This lesson will hopefully serve as a play-along for the tune How Insensitive by the prolific Brazilian musician and composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. I chose this song not only because it is one of my favorites, but because you can stay on the same strings throughout the entire tune. For me, this makes it easier to focus on keeping a solid and relaxed rhythm with the right hand which is absolutely fundamental to all Brazilian guitar playing. In the previous two lessons, I broke down the right-hand comping pattern and each and every chord you will need to play this song. Please take a look at the two links below for more information on how to play this Bossa Nova classic How Insensitive. Remember to stay calm and relaxed when playing Bossa Nova. This music is all about a nice easy groove and a beautiful melody on top. I hope you enjoy it!

Below is the YouTube video of the lesson:

Lesson 21: Two Basic Bossa Nova Comping Patterns

Lesson 22: How Insensitive Chord Changes

Below I’ve adjusted a few of the chord changes from the Real Book chart so we can always stay on the A, D, G, and B strings. After you have mastered this tune I encourage you to go out to a jam session and play it. This is a standard so pretty much any and all serious jazz musicians will know it.
